EDUCATION

Education is an important development driver as it enables alleviation of poverty, improves health, and ensures the upholding of human rights, food security among other sectors.

Our impact through education programs is based not only on enabling students to access quality education services but also on enabling the general society to acquire knowledge and information on their social wellbeing but also on their environment, health and on development.

Our Approach

BUILDING LITERACY

Education, whilst complimented by the government, faces challenges that are not limited to inadequate financial resources, high poverty levels, gender disparity, natural disasters, and poor school infrastructure.

The state of education faces its own set of challenges which include, but are not limited to:

CAPACITY BUILDING

Imparting skills and knowledge on diverse groups in the community is a complimentary to our education programs. As we build literacy for children and adults, we recognize the place of skills (technical or otherwise) in the general growth of society.

Our capacity building exercises are formed towards:

BUILDING RESILIENCE

In attaining our mandate for education, we target the most vulnerable in society and in the education sector, we understand that most of our target beneficiaries have been exposed to harsh climates, adversity, conflict and poverty.

In enabling them to have better access to quality education, we know that increasing their capacity to adapt well to adversity and the many challenges they face is an integral part in helping educating them. We shall do this through:

  • ◦ Mentorship Programs. Our approach is that people grow people. Once a select part of the community is trained in a health program, upon replication of the project in another setting, the community will be required to train others in similar skills to ensure sustainability of the project.

  • ◦ Providing humanitarian Aid. In the event of humanitarian crises in either Kenya or Somalia, Bayaan will step in and offer both health and education related services.

  • ◦ Mental Health Awareness. We cannot build a healthy, educated and vibrant community without first ensuring that all individuals realize their own abilities, can cope with normal stresses and can work productively in the community. All programs take this into consideration.
